30/40 Wealth Partners · Fully remote (residence in North Carolina a plus) · Full-time · $55,000–$65,000 base + discretionary performance bonus (0–15%)
About us
30/40 Wealth is a fee-only, SEC-registered investment advisor. We specialize in equity compensation for tech professionals: people at the most closely watched private and newly public companies, working through IPOs, lockups, tender offers, ISOs and concentrated stock. Our founder is a CFA charterholder and IRS Enrolled Agent with a background in investment banking and Silicon Valley startups before launching 30/40 Wealth.
We are a small team that leans into AI where it makes sense (mostly Claude), and we are looking for someone who thinks AI-first when possible, while still appreciating that the human element is needed in many situations.
The role
This is a career-track role for someone who wants to become a financial planner. You will learn our business from the inside: running client operations, communicating with clients, and helping explain what we do to the world.
The content work is not a separate marketing job. Explaining equity compensation and financial planning clearly is one of the fastest ways to learn it, and AI is how you will do both at speed.
What you'll do
This role has three parts. You will own all three.
Client operations (40-60%)
- Own the Charles Schwab workflow end to end: new account openings, beneficiary updates, transfers, paperwork tracking and follow-through, including communicating with clients.
- Document every process and create templates so it gets faster and more automated over time.
- Partner with leadership on how to improve operations, which tools to build, and the ROI of that tooling.
- Over time, take on investment operations, including client trades.
Client service and platform (20-30%)
- Own the review queue in our internal platform, which helps us deliver top-tier client service.
- Communicate with clients regarding routine items (quarterly and mid-quarter updates, pre-meeting agendas, post-meeting recaps).
- Triage the firm inbox so the right items reach the right person quickly.
Content and LinkedIn (30-50%)
- Support and run our LinkedIn presence: partner on our strategy (including bringing new ideas to the table), draft posts, find conversations worth joining, draft comments, publish approved posts and comments, and message with key contacts.
- Research and first-draft our Equity Advantage articles, which are published every one to two weeks.
- Update our online Academy and keep our website current. This includes rewriting text and updating visuals.
- Help build our YouTube channel and video presence from the ground floor (the channel is sparse and underwhelming right now), using AI tools like Claude, ElevenLabs and HeyGen. This is a plus, not a requirement.
Who you are
- You want a career in financial planning. You are working toward becoming an advisor, or seriously considering it, and you want to learn from the inside.
- You have a bachelor's degree and one to three years of work experience, ideally in client service or operations at a custodian, bank, broker-dealer or RIA. Recent graduates with strong internships and experience may be considered.
- Money, markets and equity compensation interest you. Terms like stock options, RSU, vesting and capital gains are not a foreign language, even if you are still learning.
- You use AI tools like Claude every day, are excited by it, and have built or made something real with them (preferably multiple things).
- You are a self-starter and a go-getter. You find the next most important thing without being told, you want more responsibility as soon as you have earned it, and you do your best work remotely with light supervision.
- You get things over the finish line. When work is waiting on the founder, you follow up, make the decision easy, and keep it moving. Polite persistence is part of the job here.
- You write clearly and quickly, and you can match someone else's voice.
- You catch errors other people miss, and boring work done right matters to you. (Important: prove this by starting your video in the required online application by saying "Lake Norman.")
- Series 65 and/or CFP, CPA, or EA credential (or progress towards) are a plus
Where it leads
This role is the first step toward becoming a financial planner at 30/40. As you grow, your work shifts from operations toward planning, with an eventual path to an associate advisor role working directly with clients.
We expect this combined role to last about 18–24 months before it changes shape. How fast you move depends mostly on you and your performance.
What we offer
- $55,000–$65,000 base, depending on experience, plus a discretionary performance bonus (0–15%).
- A $4,000 annual stipend in place of health and 401(k) benefits, which we don't currently offer.
- Series 65 exam sponsorship; CFP sponsorship possible for the right candidate
- Your own paid seat on the AI tools we use.
- Direct mentorship from the founder.
How to apply
Apply through the form below, not a one-click apply button. Along with your resume, it asks for three things:
- A two-minute video. Record it on Loom or your phone, then share a link anyone can view (Loom, Google Drive or Dropbox work well). No editing needed. Tell us who you are, why you want a career in financial planning, and why this role.
- Proof of work with AI. A link to something you built or made with AI, plus three sentences on how you made it and what didn't work at first.
- An honest look at our website. Spend real time on www.3040wealth.com, including the Academy. Tell us three things that stood out to you, and three things you would change, and why (400 words or fewer).
Applications without all items completed will not be reviewed. Use AI as much as you think is appropriate, but know that we will ask you to walk us through your application and answers live on the first call and an inability to backup what you noted will be viewed poorly (we believe AI is a powerful tool when combined with human judgement, not a substitute for it).
